Biography

Tim Foley is a Multi-Instrumentalist singer songwriter based in San Diego. He is the lead singer for the band Skelpin, who’s last album “Trip to Skye” won Best World Music Album at the 2010 San Diego Music Awards. One of Tim’s songs, “The View” won grand prize in the World Music Category of the international acclaimed John Lennon Songwriting Contest.

Tim is currently featured as the Bodhran player in the new off-Broadway musical "Come From Away", which had it's world premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse in the summer of 2015. It is currently playing at the Seattle Repertory Theater through December 2015.
The music has a unique and powerful presence throughout the show and the production has received rave reviews. Book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, directed by Chris Ashley; with orchestration by August Eriksmoen, Musical Direction and arrangements by Ian Eisendrath.

Tim's newest side project "Brogue Wave" is an quartet with Floggin Molly's Matt Hensley (accordion, concertina), OftenOne's David Lally, and Skelpin's Patric Petrie. 

In 2014, Tim released the song "Wicked I'm Not", them song of the children's book serieis "Wicked Not". www.wickednot.com The series focuses on blended families. 

Tim Foley got his start studying saxophone with San Diego jazz legend Joe Marillo. He learned Uilleann pipes at University College Cork in Ireland with Mary Mitchell-Ingoldsby.

Tim is active in music education and was a co-producer and actor in the children’s TV show Kiosko!. The episode aired on KPBS in 2007 and was nominated for an Emmy. The show's focus is on music education, using various forms of music from around the world. 

Tim continues to write and perform music with various projects, including his band "The Random Folk"
